Book Review: Solve It! by Carol Farley

Solve It is a book that contains several short mysteries that allow you to be the detective! The book also has this really cool way to play with words. We would recommend this book if you like to play detective. We would also suggest reading this in a group situation to discuss the clues and decide on a suspect. By the way, each story ends with a page on who and why they did it. We suggest "Don't Look".

Niner Book Review

Our class just finished reading the book Niner, written by Theresa Martin Golding. This book is about a girl named Macey, who has nine fingers and whose grandma thought her dad didn't want her. From burglars, gangsters, drug dealers and all sorts of bad guys, this book is full of excitement. Macey finds out her dad is leading another life and keeping secrets from her. You will have to read to find out what happens from there. We all really liked this book because it was adventerous awesome, cool, spectactular and amazing! We think you should read this book for yourself, it will knock your socks off!

Is That a Dead Dog in Your Locker?

Ms. Kramer's group just finished reading the book, Is That a Dead Dog in Your Locker?, written by Todd Strasser. Everyone in our group really liked this book because it was funny, disgusting, goofy and it had weird characters like Al-Ian, Wade, Leyton, Daisy, Fibby, Barton, Mr. Roy and the principals. This book taught us some very interesting stuff about French cheese, toe cheese and yucky smells that make people faint!!! One of us thought the book drug on a little bit, but overall we all thought it was a pretty good book. If you like funny, weird books, this book is for you! Plus, there are more books in the series, starting with, Is That a Sick Cat in Your Backpack?.

Watchers Book Review

Ms. Kramer's rooster reading group recently finished the book Watchers, written by Peter Larangus. Watchers is about a boy named Sam Hughes who gives a bully a virus on his computer. Sam's plan quickly backfires and from there all sorts of bad things start happening. Our group thought this book was alright. We rated the book on a scale from 1 to 10, with 1 being the lowest, and overall the lowest we gave it was a 1, and the highest was a 6, so it looks like we didn't think very highly of it. We thought the book was interesting but it had a really horrible ending that left us feeling like there should be more. We're hoping to find out that Peter Larangus is working on Watchers 2 so we can feel complete! :)

Sincerely,

Book Review: Liar, Liar Pants on Fire

Ms. Love's reading group just finished reading Liar, Liar Pants on Fire by Gordan Korman. This book is about a girl named Zoe who tells lies about things like having a nuclear toilet and an Eagle's nest made out of a wok.

Most of our group didn't really care for this book because it was about lying, a little boring and didn't have enough action for our tastes. Other people may like this book because it was funny at times. Also, we thought it was kind of weird that the main character was a girl, because this book seemed like it was written more for boys.

The Empty Mirror

As a group, we read the book The Empty Mirror by James Collier. We had a total 6 individuals reading this book. Three of us thought it was a terrific book, two of us give it a so, so review, and one did not care for it.
Briefly, the Empty Mirror's main character Nick has what we would call an evil twin. The evil twin raises havoc in town. The town's people do not believe that Nick has an evil twin and blame Nick for all the trouble due to the fact he has always been a trouble maker. In order to find out the truth, read The Empty Mirror.

Horrible Harry Goes to the Moon

Ms. Kramer's reading group just finished reading Horrible Harry Goes to the Moon by Suzy Kline. Harry wants to be a spaceboy so he plays a trick on his class and says he is going to the moon. The class raises some money to buy a telescope and from there...you'll have to read the book yourself to find out! We all atleast kind of liked this book because it had alot of moon facts, adventure and it was funny!

Sincerely,
Ms. Kramer, Dakota, Ashley, Adam, Thomas and Cody
